Time Out London magazine will be going out late for the first time in more than 44 years after more than 200,000 copies of the latest edition were lost in a blaze.
Almost 75% of the title’s 306,000-strong print run was destroyed as fire ripped through a warehouse in Bicester after a gas-powered forklift truck exploded.
The free magazine is usually distributed across London on a Tuesday but will this week be handed out on Thursday following a major re-print, putting it head-to-head with men’s lifestyle title ShortList.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service launched a full investigation into the fire, with early indications suggesting it was accidental.
Forty-five firefighters were sent to the scene to combat the blaze.
Greg Miall, managing director of Time Out, said: “We are just grateful that no one was hurt in the incident and ask that our readers and users continue to use our website and continue to engage with us through our social networks and through comments and reviews.”
The publisher confirmed the 80,000 intact copies will be sent to subscribers on Tuesday and distributed to locations with third-party deals, such as cultural institutions, bars and restaurants.
