Some 60 firefighters and 10 fire engines were called to tackle a fire at an industrial estate recycling centre.
Around 300 people had to be evacuated from nearby premises after general waste, paper and cardboard caught alight in the yard’s premises.
The blaze, at Wyllie Recycling Limited on Inveralmond industrial estate in Perth, took more than six hours to stamp out. Firefighters were called to the scene at 7.40am, and while the fire was mostly under control by 1.20pm, firefighters were expected to remain at the scene for another four to five hours.
Tayside Police said there were no reports of any injuries, and everyone is accounted for. Several roads had to be closed, police said.
Tayside Fire and Rescue said 10 fire engines attended the scene, along with a command and support unit and an aerial ladder platform.
A police spokesman said: “Inquiries into the full set of circumstances surrounding the incident will be undertaken in due course but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this time.”
