A building had to be evacuated and fire crews called after a blaze broke out in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant in Cardiff Bay.
Emergency Planning Cardiff helped to get people out of the Pearl of the Orient restaurant and the adjoining buildings in order to allow the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to tackle the fire at Mermaid Quay at 1.17pm on July 18.
It was not long before it was safe to return to the building and there has been no indication that anyone was injured.
No details have been released as to the extent of the damage that the restaurant sustained.
All commercial properties in England and Wales must have a ‘suitable and sufficient’ fire risk assessment to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and, if it is considered insufficient, an unlimited fine or a two-year jail sentence can be imposed.
