Facilities managers could struggle to get help if there are fires in commercial premises in the next few days because of a series of firefighter strikes.
The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) in England and Wales is holding industrial action from noon to 5pm on Friday, 2pm on Saturday to 2am on Sunday morning and from 10am to 3pm on Sunday.
The union, which is currently locked in a pension dispute with the Government, says the strikes will not go ahead if ministers use the evidence available to them and come back with a new offer.
The Government is to blame for the strikes as it has not come up with a suitable revised offer and is avoiding talks, according to FBU general secretary Matt Wrack.
He describes the Government’s attitude to the dispute as irresponsible and said the patient FBU members would not let it introduce the unfair and unaffordable pension scheme without a fight.
