More than 30 firefighters were needed to tackle a blaze that completely destroyed a leisure complex in Southerness on the coast of the Solway Firth in Scotland.
Fire crews were called to the Mermaid leisure site at the holiday village near Dumfries just after midnight.
The site has dozens of caravans and some of the holidaymakers that were staying there had to evacuated from the area immediately around the fire.
One man was in bed when he was told to get out. He said the building was ablaze and there was smoke all around.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said five pumps were at the scene from nearby Dumfries, Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas, led by a supervisory officer.
They needed the use of four hose reel jets, three main jets and an aerial appliance to tackle the blaze and they spent all morning putting it out.
