Seven fire engines and supporting vehicles were sent to tackle a blaze at a city centre pub in Edinburgh.
Around 50 fire fighters set about putting out the flames at The Volunteer Arms on Leith Walk after a fire started in the basement of the building. Emergency services were called at around 7pm, and there are no reports of any injuries, said the Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service.
“The call came in just after 7pm to a fire involving the basement and ground floor of the pub. There are three floors of tenement flats above the pub. At this stage, there are no reported casualties,” it said.
“Seven pumping appliances and supporting vehicles including a height appliance were mobilised to the scene and at the height of the fire there were 12 fire fighters in breathing apparatus tackling the blaze. Three hose reel jets and two main jets were used.”
Leith walk was closed to the public and diversion routes were signposted while crews dealt with the fire.
