Ductwork Cleaning
In order to ensure that conditions for building occupants are comfortable and safe, building owners and managers have both a ‘duty of care’ and legal obligations to ensure that ventilation systems are kept clean by the most efficient ductwork and duct cleaning methods.
All our cleaning of ducts and ductwork systems is carried out in accordance with the standards laid down in the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) fully approved Industry Standard of Excellence TR19®, or TR19® Grease.
Health and hygiene
Air conditioning or heating ductwork and extraction systems found in toilets, bathrooms and laundries are breeding grounds for bacteria. Our service will ensure all your ventilation ductwork is clean and free of debris.
It has been found in hospitals that temperature and humidity levels, allied with accumulations of dust and debris typically found in uncleaned air-conditioning ductwork, provide ideal conditions for the growth and spread of infectious micro-organisms such as MRSA.
In a similar way, infections such as flu and the common cold will spread throughout a building if systems are not maintained and cleaned.
Indoor air quality testing is a robust way to monitor and manage your indoor air quality, but it requires a significant investment. Our teams are helping educational establishments, hospitals, and commercial building operators to assess their needs quickly and cost-efficiently through ventilation hygiene risk assessments.
Grease extract systems
Grease accumulations in grease extract ventilation systems (invariably linked to catering and cooking facilities) present a significant fire hazard if not cleaned.
It is not unusual for grease extract ductwork to run through an entire building to reach a roof-level exhaust, thereby putting the whole building and its occupants at risk in the event of fire.
Thorough, professional duct cleaning to remove all fire-hazardous grease deposits from the internal surfaces of the ductwork is essential.
At a recent seminar a fire authority representative stated: ‘Uncleaned grease extract ventilation systems present probably the greatest potential fire risk in buildings with catering facilities.’
Compliance
All Indepth cleaning of ductwork, including grease extract ductwork, is carried out in accordance with the standards laid down in the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) fully approved Industry Standard of Excellence TR19®, and TR19® Grease, and BS EN 15780.
If you have a grease extract ventilation system, the Fire Safety Order requires owners and managers of buildings to ensure the grease extract ventilation system is included in fire risk assessments, and action taken to eliminate any potential fire risk.
We provide an insurance industry-approved Fire Safety Cleanliness Certificate and detailed post-clean reporting on completion of works. As evidence of grease extract ductwork cleaning, this certificate can be shown to insurers and Fire and Rescue Service inspectors.
