A man has died from severe burns after a fire in an industrial factory in Alfreton earlier this week, Derbyshire Police announced.
The 27-year-old man, from South Normanton, was working in a motor-repair facility off Lydford Road when a fire broke out and caused him fatal injuries.
He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham but passed away. A couple of his colleagues were also injured in the fire but were treated in hospital after the accident and have since been released.
The incident happened at around 12.10pm on Monday and needed roughly 50 firefighters to attend. Residents in the area being advised to keep their houses sealed up by keeping windows and doors closed.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “A joint investigation will begin today involving police, the fire service and the Health and Safety Executive.”
