Fire crews got an unexpected trip to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium after a blaze broke out in a ground floor kitchen, according to reports.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) revealed that around 20 firefighters were dispatched to the Premier League stadium after receiving a call in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The fire was spotted by a pair of security guards at the stadium in Highbury, north London, who tried to contain the fire before dialling for help after they failed to control the blaze.
The two security guards received treatment from ambulance crews at the scene for smoke inhalation, but were not hospitalised.
Fire crews arrived at the scene within minutes of the call and managed to prevent the flames from spreading to other parts of the stadium at Ashburton Grove.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (2005), all commercial properties in England and Wales, including sports stadia, require a ‘suitable and sufficient’ fire risk assessment.
The cause of the blaze is unknown, but is thought to be accidental.
