A huge blaze has ravaged an old people’s home in Cornwall after a fire started in its utility room.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene after being called at about 3.30pm on Saturday. The blaze was so big that crews from across the county had to fight against it together for two hours before it was under control at around 6pm.
No one was injured and the fire appears to have been an accident. In the end, firefighters managed to confine the blaze to the building’s launderette.
The fire means the old people’s home must undergo a fire risk assessment under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. If any foul play is found, a responsible person can face a fine or a prison sentence. An official investigation has been launched.
