Dozens of firefighters have been tackling a huge blaze at a food preparation company’s premises in Northamptonshire.
The fire started at the Trojan Centre on the Finedon Road Industrial Estate at Wellingborough just before 5am on Wednesday July 30.
At one point a dozen fire crews – including one manning an aerial appliance – were tackling the blaze on Stewarts Road with the incident leaving the nearby A510, which runs between Wellingborough and the A14, closed to traffic travelling in both directions.
With thick smoke billowing away from the scene people living near the industrial estate have been advised to keep their doors and windows shut as a precaution.
Speaking as the incident unfolded a spokeswoman for the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said that the blaze – centred in the middle of three units – had been “surrounded” by firefighters.
The Trojan Centre accommodates a food preparation firm as well as several other industrial units, offices and a gym.
