More than 100 firefighters spent almost four hours tackling a blaze in Glasgow on February 3 after a former bedding shop went up in flames.
The huge inferno on the top floor of the building on Dixon Street is believed to have started at 1.50am.
The blaze was so large that crews from Calton, Polmadie and Maryhill Community Fire Stations all had to attend, while additional resources from across Glasgow and Lanarkshire were called upon.
High winds in Glasgow in the early hours of the morning made the task of putting the blaze out harder for the fire crews.
Their work was made even more complicated when the roof of the three-storey building collapsed at about 4.40am, according to Strathclyde Fire and Rescue (SFR).
The firefighters used aerial rescue pumps to tackle the fire, which was eventually under control just after 5am. Thermal imaging devices were used by rescue workers to ensure no pockets of fire remained in the building.
A statement released by the local fire and rescue authority said: “The cause of the blaze will now be subject to a full investigation carried out by SFR’s Incident Research and Investigation section.”
