Firefighters recently spent a night battling a large fire in the centre of Edinburgh.
At one point 60 firemen were working to extinguish the blaze which started at about 3.30pm in a four-storey building in Hanover Street in the Scottish capital.
Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said that officers had been on stand-by through the night and that they would continue to extinguish “small pockets of fire”.
Currently the cause of the fire is unknown and although it was initially thought that it had started in the ground floor of a Thomas Cook shop, a spokesman said that fire officers are now looking at a two-storey outhouse at the back of the building which was on fire.
He said: “It’s unclear if the fire may have started there and spread to the Thomas Cook shop. There was a lot of smoke gathered in the shop and officers entered through it but investigations are continuing to establish the starting point.”
The shop and surrounding properties were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
