A carbon database for buildings in Britain is set to be made public for the first time.
Resource efficiency experts at the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) created the database in partnership with the UK Green Building Council.
Building professionals and architects will now be able to access the free and publically available database that has been created by the engineering company, Arup.
It will provide a more detailed comparative data set than was previously available to any company or individual.
“Our aim is to create an open, web-based resource for building professionals which will have a real impact in driving down carbon emissions,” Gareth Brown, programme area manager for WRAP, said.
“The resource efficiency that the database will enable brings with it truly measureable gains to the economy as well as long-term benefits to the environment.”
