A probe has started into what caused a blaze at a vacant pub in North Yorkshire.
Fire tore through the Friendship Inn in Millgate, Selby.
Fire crews were alerted to the incident after two 16-year-old boys spotted smoke coming from the pub’s windows and doors.
There were no reports on any injuries and the fire was eventually brought under control
A fire investigation team is now going over the site to discover what started the blaze.
All commercial properties in England and Wales must be thoroughly risk assessed for fire.
Failure to do so could land the person responsible for the building liable to prosecution either in the form of a fine or a maximum two-year custodial sentence.
Developers are looking to build homes on the site of the Friendship Inn after it was sold last year. However the proposed development has proved unpopular with residents.
