People who rent out properties to tenants are being reminded of their responsibilities with regards to the checking of gas appliances as winter approaches.
Landlords are being urged to make sure they use a qualified gas engineer to inspect or install gas boilers or cookers at least once a year as September 12 marks the start of Gas Safety Week.
The National Landlords Association (NLA) is reminding landlords that they must also provide the inspection report to their tenant.
The regular checking of gas appliances is highly important as faulty ones can cause a carbon monoxide lead, which could potentially be fatal.
Richard Price, director of operations at the NLA, said: “It’s vital that a registered gas engineer is always used to carry out any work on gas appliances to ensure it’s done properly. They can be found on the Gas Safe Register website.”
