A working garage in Walsall has been gutted by a serious fire, according to newspaper the Express and Star.
Emergency services scrambled to the Monmore Green Welding Co premises in Green Street, Birchills, after a fire broke out there on Sunday May 6.
Despite the best efforts of fire fighters, the specialist Citroen garage was completely gutted during the 45-minute blaze which destroyed most of the building and its contents.
Speaking after the fire, garage owner Simon Pearson told reporters: “I have been here 33 years and there were vintage car parts in there which I can’t put a price on.
“It has taken the workshop out completely.”
According to UK law, all commercial property must undergo a ‘suitable and sufficient’ fire risk assessment which, if breached, can render the most responsible person liable for an unlimited fine or a prison sentence of up to two years.
