Firefighters in Norfolk are helping people recognise fire hazards in their community.
A scheme run by umbrella group Voluntary Norfolk is designed to increase people’s knowledge of potential problems, as well as develop community involvement and volunteering throughout the county.
A day of activity and advice has been organised at North Walsham fire station for Thursday October 27 between 10am and 3pm.
The event will showcase local groups’ charitable and voluntary work around fire safety, with the aim of encouraging more people to volunteer.
A spokesman for Voluntary Norfolk said: “Fire kills and injures hundreds of people every year, yet it is often preventable. A little extra vigilance can make a huge difference.
“The new initiative aims to increase awareness of fire risks and to train volunteers to spot potential hazards in the community.”
