Enquiries made of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are to be made easier as the body invests in its website and guidance.
Following the changes, which also include the 2011 closure of its telephone service Infoline, visitors to the HSE site will be given a number of options.
These are to report a work injury, notify the HSE of a workplace concern, make gas safety enquiries and notifications, and obtain technical advice or help with interpreting guidance.
Both businesses and the public are requested to use the website as a first option, and to enable enquiries to be submitted quickly and easily online, new forms have been brought in.
However, a team will be on hand during office hours to handle calls from people unable to use the website or who need more technical clarification.
Facilities managers should go to www.hse.gov.uk/contact.
