Facilities professionals will be able to use a new web service in a bid to boost the performance of their buildings.
The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) is teaming up with FM Benchmarking to provide the web-based system which will help firms reduce energy consumption among other things.
Professionals are expected to use the system to work out how to bring down operating costs and energy consumption and boost efficiency.
The scheme covers utilities, maintenance, security, sustainability and the use of space, allowing users to measure their building against others of a similar size.
FM Benchmarking claimed that the scheme could help firms slash the amount of energy they use by up to 40% over the next 10 years.
Ian Fielder, chief executive of the BIFM, said: “Measuring facilities’ performance to make improvements is becoming increasingly important for facilities managers.
“We are excited to be able to offer our members discounted access to FM Benchmarking.”
