Multiple fire crews in Bournemouth were called out to a blaze at a block on student flats in the centre of the town early on Friday morning.
The fire is believed to have started in the top floor of the building in St Peter’s Road just after 08:40 BST and quickly spread through the roof.
People inside the five-storey block were led to safety by firefighters who arrived on the scene in a matter of minutes. A total of eleven fire engines were in attendance due to the ferocious nature of the blaze.
Police at the site closed St Peter’s Road in both directions between the Hinton Road junction and the Glen Fern Road junction while the fire was brought under control and all the students were evacuated.
A first aid vehicle was also present to offer medical assistance, as well as provide tea and blankets to those affected.
There were no reports of any injuries. Five fire appliances remained at the building to dampen down hotspots. Authorities have since launched an investigation to try and establish the cause of the blaze.
