Around 40 firefighters had to be called in to extinguish a blaze on a section of an aircraft carrier currently under construction in Scotland.
Officials revealed that the incident on board HMS Queen Elizabeth at Rosyth, in Fife, involved a “small piece” of smouldering material. They also confirmed that no-one was injured as a result of the blaze.
Fire services arrived on the scene shortly after the fire started at around 2.30pm on Tuesday.
The Aircraft Carrier Alliance said work has now returned to normal on the site.
A spokesman for the alliance said: “A small piece of equipment was smouldering in an area onboard the Queen Elizabeth carrier mid-section.
“We can confirm that, as a standard precaution, employees and contractors in the immediate vicinity were evacuated. No-one was injured during this incident and employees are now back working normally.”
