Facilities management (FM) professionals have been offered new practical guidance this week.
The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) launched another Good Practice Guide (GPG) on Tuesday (September 3).
The Inclusive Access, Disability and the Equality Act GPG is the latest in a string of new and improved guides to back FM standards and professionalism.
The BIFM claims that professionals reading this advice can expect to develop a knowledge of what the obstacles might be to providing an inclusive service or building.
It also says that they can learn how to gain strategies for their removal or the development of management practices that minimise or conquer those barriers to equal service delivery.
Accessibility, says the institute, has always been a key component for several kinds of facilities.
This has become more vital than before with several employees extending their working lives into their 60s and 70s, it added.
Jacqueline Gillman, product development manager at BIFM, said: “This update provides practical guidance on how FM professionals play a key role in meeting the needs of the whole population by achieving an inclusive service or building which also meets legislative requirements.”
