Facilities managers from all over the world have succeeded in raising the profile of their profession during World FM Day.
The event on June 4 was the seventh of its kind since Global FM introduced it in 2008. It is designed to demonstrate the importance of the work FMs do every day for their employers.
This year’s event, tagged Connected FM, Connected World – Global Knowledge Sharing, highlighted how FMs connect with their clients and their colleagues.
FM World asked FMs about the biggest hindrances to success in the profession and the only real change to the results from last year was that more said they were under pressure to keep up levels of services with less money and fewer resources. This was the biggest challenge for around 40% of those surveyed and amounts to a 6% rise in a year. Those who classed procurement, legal compliance, flexible working practices or energy efficiency as their main problems remained similar to last year’s figures.
One particular poll participant said adopting renewable energy practices was there biggest challenge and for that FM finding the best way to store energy in bulk is a priority for the future.
