More than two-thirds of facilities management providers do not possess full details about many of their suppliers.
A poll found that a majority of providers were in the dark about information pertaining to their suppliers, including a third who admitted they only held full details on less than a quarter of them.
One of the explanations offered for this low figure is that facilities management providers often keep full details on a small “core” of suppliers that they use most frequently. Therefore full information is not as vital on suppliers they use less often.
The study was carried out by Trade Interchange, which assists organisations in avoiding the risks, costs and complications of managing a far-reaching supplier base.
The UK’s top 50 facilities management providers were questioned as part of the process. Among those who responded were business development managers, facilities managers and those responsible for their organisation’s supply chain.
