Restaurants, pubs and cafes are being urged to show off their hygiene ratings and scores to potential customers.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) will be providing businesses with advice from September 19 on how to make the most of their rating, including tips on how to highlight their score on promotional leaflets, menus and websites.
The FSA assesses the hygiene standards of all food businesses, assigning them a rating between zero, where urgent action is required, and five, which indicates excellent standards.
Communications manager at the FSA, Beverley Cook said it will be targeting establishments with high scores as there is no reason for them to not want to publicise their impressive ratings.
She told the Morning Advertiser: “We are pushing for businesses to display ratings as it makes good business sense to make the most of your rating and be proud of it.”
