More than 40 firefighters had to put out a fire that tore through a car maintenance garage in Aberdeen on Sunday and caused at least £100,000 worth of damage.
Police are treating the fire that started at 3.50am on Sunday at Gordon’s Garage, in Pittodrie Place, as unexplained and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.
Inspector Christine Gordon, from Grampian Police, said: “This was a substantial fire which has caused extensive damage to the premises itself and the vehicles within.
“While it is still very early, it is estimated that the value of the damage will likely amount to a six figure sum of money.
“The fire is currently being treated as unexplained and a joint investigation between Grampian Police and Grampian Fire and Rescue will now take place to establish the cause.
“Officers are currently carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area and I would appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the early hours of Sunday morning to come forward to us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
