Facilities managers are being offered new advice on how to manage the health and safety of contractors working on their premises.
The BIFM has released a new guide containing information adding to the guidance that is already included in the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.
The details in the guide apply to selecting and overseeing the work of any contractor and include a visual Process Flowchart.
This year marks 40 years of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Section 3 of the legislation states employers are responsible for the health and safety of anyone on their premises, whether they are their own employees or not and this includes contractors.
The guide, which BIFM members can now download, is sponsored by energy and facilities management firm GSH and is written by its group safety health environmental and quality director Robert Greenfield and Safety Action Services managing director Michael JW Morgan.
