A large blaze at an office complex in Berkshire at the weekend required dozens of firefighters to get it under control, it has been revealed.
Fire investigators have been sifting through the wreckage Mulberry Business Park, Fishponds Road, Wokingham after the fire on Saturday.
Onlooker Robert Hughes reported seeing flames shooting up from the premises of PE Fiberoptics. He said: “My daughter was the first to tell me about it who lives just up the road.
“There must have been at least 24 firefighters. You could see the flames and smell burning plastic.”
A total of nine fire engines battled the blaze, with crews using hose reel jets to get the situation in hand.
Steve Beard, watch manager at Wokingham fire station, said: “The office block was re-inspected through the night every three hours. There was a slight re-ignition but that was extinguished and the last appliance left at midnight.
“It was difficult towards the end with the loss of light. The fire investigators stopped investigating and will start again first thing this morning (Sunday) at 10am.”
