Staff working at a Dundee textiles factory had to be evacuated on Tuesday morning after a machine caught fire.
Fire crews were called to JT Inglis & Sons Ltd on Stannergate Road in the city shortly before 9am. There was heavy smoke billowing from the building, according to Watch manager Fraser Johnston.
He said the blaze had moved through the air ducts of the machinery to ducts in the roof before it could be contained by firefighters using an aerial appliance, one of four special appliances and three pumps in operation at the scene.
The factory’s full workforce was in the building when the fire was discovered, but all of the 40 employees were evacuated there were no injuries. Founded in 1917, JT Inglis & Sons Ltd is part of The British Millerain Group Ltd and makes fabrics that are used by the commercial and military sectors.
